The TOY BOX

I was taking Leah to her Mother's Day Out program today. She goes every Monday, and loves it. It is at the local Methodist Church, and today as we arrived for drop-off, there was a Funeral getting underway. The door we enter the building is at ground level, and has elevator access to the sanctuary. So that is where the hearse was parked. And as the timing would have it, we had arrived just as the Funeral director and staff were taking the casket into the building. Leah and I patiently and respectfully stood aside as they were wheeling the casket into the doors, as to not make them feel rushed or intruded upon.
However at that moment, seeing her first casket, my daughter yells "LOOK MAMA, IT'S A BIG BIG TOY BOX!!!" I was so embarrassed! It was very windy outside, so I think It's safe to say no one in the funeral party payed attention to the loud little girl who was so EXCITED to see this coffin. I explained that no, it's not a toy-box, but it sure is a nice box isn't it. Ah, the joys of childhood!

Happy Easter 2008

The kids had a great Easter! All in all, I think we have about 20 pounds of candy in our Home. Isaac and Leah couldn't be more pleased. Mommy however, is wondering what the possibililtes are of freezing it until Halloween and re-distributing it to save a buck. Yeah...call me cheap! But seriously, there is WAY too much candy here.
Leah felt like a Princess in her Easter dress, and rightfully so, she looked amazing!! This picture is the only one I could manage as Isaac was in a bad mood (I told him no more candy before church) and the wind was blowing so fiercely, it really did a number on Leah's hair! AH, Easter in Oklahoma!
We had a wonderful Easter Ham dinner with the Hubler Family, and a HUGE easter egg hunt in Aunt Becky's back yard. Each kid filled their basket to the brim, and then they were each handed a Wal*Mart bag to fill with eggs in addition. There was candy, money, and goodies to be had. And, despite the SUGAR overload, everyone slept very soundly that night!

A NEW NEICE!

On March 19th, Marianna Louise Perez was born! Mikey's younger sister, Laurene, and her husband Oscar were thrilled to welcome their second child. And as you can see, she is as precious as they come! Leah and Isaac were so excited that the baby finally came out of Aunt Laurene's belly. Although Isaac still has some unanswered questions about HOW it came out. I'm not ready to conquer that one yet!
Here are some pics to enjoy! Leah wanted to hold the baby all by herself, she was quite confident in her abilities. However the look on Isaacs face shows his uncertainty. He was afraid she'd surely break in his arms! She is such a sweet little thing though! You can't see all the black hair under that stocking cap! Her daddy is Mexican, and to me, she looks like both her Mommy and Daddy!

Something Beautiful

While on the computer this morning, enjoying the task of balancing the checkbook, Isaac comes running in "Mama, Mama, Do you want to see something BEAUTIFUL?!?" I replied with "What do you mean?" Isaac explained "Mama, you need to come here, come see, Leah is in your bathroom doing something Beautiful!" Now, the thought crossed my mind, that nothing Leah has ever done in the bathroom could be described as beautiful. So, yes, he had me curious. And I followed.
There Leah was, standing in the Bathtub, wearing only her princess-skirt. And Isaac (wearing mismatched slippers, pretty common around here) climbed up on the side of the tub, electronic drum-set in hand. "Ready Mama?!?!?!" And I told him to go ahead and show me. With a dramatic countdown of "1, 2, 1-2-3-4" he started making the loudest most insane drum noises that he could manage. All the while Leah began twirling (as if to a Vienesse Waltz) while holding her skirt daintily with her fingers. This was all too much for me to take in, so of course, I run for the camera. Truly "Something Beatiful".
