Callings and Such.

"Yes, Brother Howard? What was that? WHO? You're kidding! ANOTHER ONE???"

So, it's been a rough month for me in my calling. The Lord is giving me a huge lesson in enduring strife, or he is humbling me, or there is some important lesson I am supposed to learn from this. The weekend that I gave birth to Simon, I was told that my sweet Secretary and awesome Valiant 9 teacher were being called to serve elsewhere. Wow, okay, the timing was really bad, but roll with the punches, right? Then two weeks ago I get the phone call that my incredible 2nd Councilor was being removed from my presidency to serve in YW. Talk about distress. Here I am at the end of a year, standing on the edge of 2009. A very crucial time in Primary is when the year turns over and the children advance and teacher assignments change. It is stressful. Then yesterday my phone rings again. It is Bro. Howard again "Hello Sister Hubler, how are you doing?" (Long P A U S E) "Uh, I don't know Brother Howard....the question is, how will I be doing in 5 minutes when I find out what you are calling me for?" Well, the purpose of that call was to tell me that I no longer have a CTR 6 teacher, or an Activity Days Leader. Wow, a double whammy. Impressive. I am rather stunned. And wouldn't you know it, wonderful Brother Howard called me again just TONIGHT. Yep. Another one!!!! At this point I am in total disbelief. I am trying so very very very hard to keep things together. I love my calling, and I know it will work out somehow. But right now it's hard for me to see exactly how the Lord will do it. So that is it....I'm getting a lesson in Faith. I often teach the Primary children about having Faith. So it seems the teacher is now the student.

Yawn....

So the husband is in Missouri on business for two days. It's just me and the kids.
Last night Simon finally went to bed at 10:30pm after 1½ hours of effort. For the next hour, I frantically made sack lunches, set out coats and backpacks, and located shoes. All in an effort to make the morning go much smoother. Got to bed by Midnight. No sooner had I gotten to sleep, then up wakes Simon, absolutely SCREAMING. And he was up until 6:00am. No amount of Mylecon, Gripe Water, massage, nursing, rocking or patting was helping. If he did drift off, it was only long enough for me to lay him down and then he immediately woke up screaming again. So....I was up battling with him for almost SIX HOURS, then had to wake up at 7am to start getting Isaac ready for school.
There are days that being the Mom really hurts. I'm certain this will be one of those days. Wow.

A Tea Party Guest

Today Leah had a Tea Party in her room. This is an everyday thing around here. Usually she has her princess dolls all lined up, eagerly participating. Today however, she had a new guest.

"Mama, mama, can I watch a Princess movie?"
"Sure hon, which one?"
"Giselle movie (Enchanted)"
"Okay, let me get it started for you"
"No, not yet Mama, because right now I'm having a tea party"
"Oh, okay, well you have fun at your tea party Sis"
"Yeah, it is a fun tea party, with my freind"
"Well that's good, whose your friend sweetie?"
"Jesus"
"Oh really? You are having a tea party with Jesus?"
"Yeah, he's in my bedroom. He's waiting for me" "Oh, he's calling me, HOLD ON JESUS, I'M COMING" "I've got to go" (runs back to her room) "Okay Jesus I'm back now".

My daughter, understands what it means to have a personal relationship with her Savior. Honestly, it almost made me want to go back there and look for myself.
I love my kids!

Primary Closing Exercises

This morning as I was brushing Leah's hair getting ready for church, I was telling her that today after Nursery, she would get to come to Primary Closing Exercises, with all the big kids. She was very excited, and kept telling Isaac "I get to come to Closing Exercises Isaac!" several times, to which he would snarl back "I KNOW Leah, stop saying that!". Well, Closing Exercises was fairly uneventful. Announcements, Theme, Scripture, Talk, Closing song, and Prayer. Just like always. After it was all said and done, and children were being excused, Leah ran up to me and grabbed my skirt with a very frantic look on her face. "Leah, what's wrong babe?" "But Momma you forgot the closing exercises" she said. "Leah, we're done for today honey". "But Momma, we didn't do our EXERCISES!"
Who knew Leah was expecting a group aerobics class in primary! What a disappointment! Maybe she'd prefer we call a Pilates instructor instead of a Sunbeam teacher for her?
